Equipment Manufacturers

AT&T works with leading equipment manufacturers to provide customers with specialty vertical devices that enable real time wireless access to support specific business requirements, such as vehicle and asset tracking, field service, and telemetry. Device Certification on the AT&T networks is required prior to devices being activated on our network. Certification helps to ensure that end-users will have an optimal experience when using a device with AT&T service.

Benefits

There are numerous advantages to having a AT&T network-compatible device:

  • Reassurance that your devices will perform as expected over the AT&T network
  • Exposure to the AT&T enterprise customer base through our sales teams
  • Use of the AT&T Network Compatible logo
  • AT&T network compatible device listing in our Devices section
  • Qualification for Dealer status in the Business Alliance Partner Program

What types of devices can be certified?

AT&T accepts a broad range of devices for certification, including:

Request Device Certification of Specialty (Non-Stocked) Enterprise Devices

If you are an OEM looking to certify a device or modem, please e-mail your request to developer.program@att.com. Our business development group will analyze the requests and pursue certification of the device based on business case justification.

Please note that all proprietary/vertical devices that will be activated on the AT&T network must use AT&T approved OEM modules. Once the solutions are complete, the finished equipment must be submitted to AT&T for device certification. This process should be done through your AT&T business development or marketing representative.

Before introducing a specialty (non-stocked) device into the AT&T network for certification, AT&T requires that the following items be completed for the device:

  • FCC certification
  • PTCRB Certification

Once your device has completed each of these, you may request AT&T Network Compatibility Testing for the device. After successful completion of the AT&T Network Compatibility Testing your device will be made available to the AT&T sales teams and applicable AT&T Alliance Partners for ordering and activation on the AT&T network. AT&T will not stock the device but will provide the activation service. Please note, that the AT&T company policy requires that all specialty (non-stocked) devices support 850MHz and AMR (for devices that support voice). Devices that do not support 850MHz or AMR (voice enabled devices) will not be accepted for network compatibility testing and so will not be activated on the AT&T network.
