COOP & Disaster Recovery

At no time are data and voice communications more important than when disaster strikes. Time and again, AT&T has proved itself a responsive and reliable network provider, with Continuity of Operations Planning (COOP) and disaster recovery expertise. We keep you connected or get you reconnected fast.
- Wireless Priority Service (WPS). By entering a special code when connecting to our wireless network, first responders gain priority access-especially important during disasters, when networks experience heavy use. Access is granted only to key government and first responder personnel.
- Continuity of Operations Communications. In an emergency, messages often have to go out to special categories of workers- for example, one notification may go to all office managers, another message may go to all field personnel. These workers may use a variety of devices: BlackBerry® Handhelds™ using email or PIN-to-PIN messaging, pocket PCs, cell phones, desktop PCs, even fax machines. AT&T's Continuity of Operations solution lets a BlackBerry user send one message to many addressees regardless of their devices. The user has access to three types of groups: a group of addresses created by an administrator, an existing BlackBerry Address Book group, and, a manually entered group. After selecting a group, the user simply composes a message and sends.
- Continuity of Operations Network Services. AT&T offers a host of network services that will assist in maintaining operations during an emergency. Sample services include wireless router systems that re-route your wired internet connections to wireless using AT&T's wireless data network; back up services like Remote Vault Service, and AT&T's Enterprise Recovery Services.
- Integrated Cellular-Satellite Solutions. Coming in the first quarter of 2010, AT&T and TerreStar Networks introduce a dual-mode cellular-satellite smartphone that allows first responders to seamlessly switch from cellular to satellite voice and data service during an emergency response if cellular service goes down.
The TerreStar Genus™ is the size of a standard smartphone, runs on Windows Mobile® operating system and includes a 2.6-inch touchscreen with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth®, GPS.
