AT&T Satellite Augmented Mobile service

AT&T Satellite Augmented Mobile service provides customers with an integrated cellular and satellite mobile communications solution. Customers with compatible TerreStar GENUS™ devices are able to use their AT&T cellular wireless voice, messaging and data services for primary communications and access a satellite network for voice, messaging and data service when the cellular wireless service is unavailable. The solution is well-suited for government, energy, utility, transportation, and maritime users, public safety agencies and first responders.

The TerreStar Genus™ smartphone is a revolutionary device, combining GSM, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, and HSDPA terrestrial wireless capability with satellite voice and data capability in a standard smartphone size and form factor. The device runs on the Windows Mobile® operating system to provide rich smartphone functionality, and includes premium features such as a 2.6-inch touch screen, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth®, and GPS.

Subscription to the monthly SAM feature provides access to the satellite network, with actual satellite usage billed at additional, pay-per-use roaming rates. Customers will be required to subscribe to appropriate AT&T cellular wireless voice and data plans and a monthly satellite network-access feature.
