Communication Manager allows LaptopConnect customers with Microsoft Windows®-based laptops and an eligible data plan* to control how and when they connect to wireless networks.
Communication Manager offers a range of features, such as:
- Simple installation and intuitive user interface
- Access to our EDGE and BroadbandConnect networks and roaming partners, where applicable.
Provides easy authentication at AT&T Wi-Fi hot spots for customers who meet certain eligibility requirements**
- VPN-aware software that can help quickly establish connections for many of the leading VPNs (Virtual Private Networks)
- An update engine that automatically checks for new software versions and AT&T Wi-Fi locations
- Data acceleration software that makes web browsing even faster using compression technology and efficient transmission techniques***
Download the latest Communication Manager software*
Follow the steps below to download your free copy of Communication Manager software. You must have a subscription to an eligible data plan and use a compatible device. If using your handset as a modem, a tethering cable (purchased separately) or Bluetooth® functionality (available in select handset models) is required.
For detailed instructions on configuring Communication Manager with your LaptopConnect device, visit our device support site, select your device model, and follow the on-screen prompts to find detailed instructions on configuring your device for use with LaptopConnect.
- Download the latest version of Communication Manager software. We recommend you download the Communication Manager software from an existing wireline internet connection. Wireless usage charges apply for wireless downloads.
- Choose "Open" (or "Run") to start the installation.
- Follow the on-screen installation wizard. After completing the installation, restart your laptop.
- After restarting your laptop, double-click on the "Communication Manager" icon.
- Connect your LaptopConnect card or handset to your laptop.
- Click "Connect" to connect to the internet wirelessly.
