Predictive Text
The faster and easier way to send text messages
Frustrated by having to press a single key multiple times to select the letter you want when composing text messages? Predictive text (sometimes called T9 or iTAP) is a fast and easy way to enter letters, numbers, and symbols.
With predictive text, a built-in dictionary tries to "predict" the word you're typing, based on your sequence of keystrokes.
How to Use Predictive Text
-
Make sure predictive text is enabled on your phone. On many phones it can be turned on by selecting Options while in the screen you use to compose messages. If this doesn't work, see our manufacturer instructions or check your owner's manual for specific instructions.
-
Start typing a word using only one keystroke per letter. Predictive text will start to anticipate your intended word.
-
If the word displayed was not the intended word, scroll through additional words to select the one you want.
-
If your intended word doesn't appear, spell it out fully.
Tips for Predictive Text
-
Ignore the word being displayed on your screen while typing. Since predictive text tries to find matching words as you type, the word you are entering will change as you hit each key.
-
If the word you want isn't found in the dictionary, manually add it and save for future use. This is especially helpful for personal names.
