SUBJECT:
Enable or Disable Content Protection for a RIM BlackBerry
FACT:
BlackBerry Handheld Software version 3.8
BlackBerry Handheld Software version 4.0
BlackBerry Handheld Software version 4.1
FIX:

Content protection is designed to encrypt the BlackBerry device data. When content protection is turned on, the device uses a private key to encrypt data as it is stored on the device, including data that the device receives when it is locked. The device decrypts data as it is accessed.

  1. Scroll to and select Options (to select push the trackwheel in).
  2. Scroll to and select Security.
  3. Highlight Content Protection.
  4. Click the trackwheel and select Change Option.
  5. Scroll to and select Enabled or Disabled.
  6. Click the trackwheel and select Save.

Enabling/Disabling Content Protection on a RIM BlackBerry using Handheld Software version 4.1 or later:

  1. Scroll to and select Settings (to select push the trackwheel in).
  2. Scroll to and select Options.
  3. Scroll to and select Security Options.
  4. Highlight and select General Settings.
  5. Highlight Content Protection.
  6. Click the trackwheel and select Change Option.
  7. Scroll to and select Enabled or Disabled.
  8. Click the trackwheel and select Save.
