4G LTE: Meet Mobile Broadband’s Next Generation
Welcome to the next wave of the mobile Internet evolution—Long Term Evolution (LTE). 4G LTE is fourth-generation wireless broadband technology that supports extremely fast access to the Internet for 4G LTE devices.
Work gets done quickly on 4G LTE. Whether you're making an on-site presentation or planning an impromptu lunch meeting, put your business in fast-forward with 4G LTE speeds and compatible devices.
4G LTE provides the following advantages over 3G or HSPA+:
- Faster speeds. LTE technology is capable of delivering speeds faster than many other mobile Internet technologies. Customers can stream, download, and upload faster than ever before so your business can do more without missing a beat.
- Cool new devices. AT&T offers several LTE-compatible devices, including smartphones and tablets.
- Faster response time. LTE technology offers lower latency, or the processing time it takes to move data through a network. This includes examples like how long it takes to start downloading a webpage or file once you’ve sent the request. Lower latency helps to improve services like mobile gaming, two-way video calling and telemedicine.
- More efficient use of spectrum. Wireless spectrum is a finite resource, and LTE uses spectrum more efficiently than other technologies, creating more space to carry data traffic and services and to deliver a better network experience
International LTE Roaming
AT&T was the first U.S. carrier to offer international LTE roaming. AT&T wireless customers get LTE data roaming in more than 100 countries, with even more on the way. We have agreements in more than 200 countries to allow for LTE roaming in the future.
LTE Advanced outperforms 4G LTE
Get the most out of our powerful LTE Advanced network. AT&T began deploying LTE Advanced in early 2014 and now we cover the vast majority of our customers in our LTE coverage area with LTE Advanced. It’s 50% faster than 4G LTE1 so go ahead and indulge in all your binge-worthy shows, stream season games, and download the hottest releases, now faster than ever
*Limited 4G LTE availability in select markets. LTE is a trademark of ETSI. AT&T's 4G LTE Reliability claim based on analysis of data network connection and data transaction success rates reported by Nielsen during network tests conducted across 225 markets from Nov 2012 to Nov 2013, and compares carriers with nationwide 4G LTE networks.
1Compared to average AT&T LTE speeds. Based on independent 3rd party data. Requires LTE-A capable device.
