Prerequisites

Integrate a POP or IMAP Account

  1. Access the BlackBerry Internet Service at www.mycingular.blackberry.com.

     
  2. In the "Add An Existing E-mail Account" section, click Set Up Account.

      
  3. Enter the appropriate e-mail settings and click Next.

     
    • E-mail Address: user defined
    • Password: user defined
    • Confirm: user defined
       
  4. The following will display if the e-mail account could not be configured. Verify the "Email address" and "Password" are correct. Select "Re-enter email address and password, enter the correct information and select NEXT.
     
       
  5. Select "This is my personal email account" option and click Next.
     
     
  6. Select "I will provide the settings to add this email account" option and click Next.

     
  7. Enter the following e-mail settings and click Next.

       
  8. A confirmation will appear when the account has been successfully integrated. Click OK.
    NOTE: An individual service book will be received for each integrated e-mail account. RIM BlackBerry devices using Handheld Software version 4.1 and later will receive a separate Messages inbox icon for each integrated e-mail account.

     
  9. The integrated account will appear in the "Valid E-mail Account" section.

      

Verify e-mail messages can be sent and received

  1. If more then one e-mail service has been integrated, set the integrated e-mail account as the default sending service.
  2. Send a test message from the device and confirm it is received in the recipient's inbox.
  3. Send a test message to the integrated ISP e-mail address and confirm it is received on the BlackBerry device.
    NOTE: BlackBerry Internet Service polling service checks the POP/IMAP e-mail server for new messages every 15 minutes. If a new e-mail message is found the polling service will increase the poll rate and check for new messages every 3 minutes. Some E-mail accounts may be notification based, meaning that e-mail messages sent to the account will be immediately delivered to the BlackBerry.
  4. If unable to send or receive e-mail, troubleshoot BlackBerry Internet Service e-mail.
  5. If the message is not received after 15 minutes, check for known BlackBerry Internet Service issues and errors.
  6. If further assistance is needed, please contact Customer Care.
