AT&T Voice DNA® Administrator Support

Manage User Dial Restrictions and Overrides

Overview

As an AT&T Voice DNA® Administrator, you can manage dial restrictions on a user-by-user basis, or you can set dial restrictions for multiple users in your company or at a single location. (For more information, see Manage Dial Restrictions – Mass Management.)

Dial restrictions limit which calls can be placed, forwarded, or transferred from a user's phone number. (Dial restrictions don't affect incoming calls.) If your organization requires any restrictions, set them using the AT&T Voice DNA Administrator Dashboard.

In addition to the general dial restrictions available through AT&T Voice DNA, you can create the following custom dial patterns:

Dial restriction patterns Specify a number or range of numbers that a user is restricted from calling, forwarding, or transferring. Use a restriction pattern to create a dial restriction that you can't achieve using general dial restrictions. A dial restriction pattern might consist of single number, single area code, or single international country code.

Dial restriction override patterns Specify a number or range of numbers that a user can call, superseding any other dial restriction applied to that user. For example, if a user is restricted from making international calls, you could create a dial restriction override pattern that contains a single international number that the user can call.

For information about how to create and manage dial restriction patterns and dial restriction override patterns, see Create and Manage Custom Dial Patterns.

Note: Calls to 911, AT&T Voice DNA Customer Care, and voicemail access are permitted, even when the Restrict All Outgoing Calls option is selected.

General dial restrictions can include any of the following:

Dial restriction Description
All outgoing calls Restricts all outgoing calls from this number, including calls to other users within your organization. Allows incoming calls only.
International calls Restricts international calls that start with 011 or 01.
Information calls Restricts calls to Directory Assistance, domestic and international (411, 555-1212, and Area Code + 555-1212).
Domestic calls (outside your company) Restricts domestic calls made to any 7 or 10 digit number outside your company.
Operator calls Restricts calls starting with 0 (other than international and 00 Information).
Toll free calls Restricts calls to toll-free area codes (for example, 800 or 877).

To restrict both local and long distance dialing for a user, you can use the Domestic Calls to Home Area Code restriction and the Domestic Calls Except for Home Area Code restriction together.
